Accessibility Statement
Last updated: September 2026
Being honest: I've built this app to be as accessible as I can, but it's not perfect. This statement explains what works well. If something isn't working for you or your pupils, please let me know.
What works well
- Dark mode and light mode - You can switch between light and dark themes.
- Dyslexia-friendly font - A reading tool switches the app to a dyslexia-friendly font.
- Larger text - A reading tool makes the text bigger.
- High contrast - A reading tool switches on higher contrast.
- Reduced motion - A reduced motion setting turns animations down. The app also follows your device's "reduce motion" setting automatically, and updates straight away if that device setting changes.
- Personal reading choices - A child's reading choices are saved to their own record, so they follow the child rather than the device, and one pupil's choices are not carried over to the next pupil on a shared classroom device.
- On-screen keyboard - Pupils type their spelling on an on-screen keyboard.
- Keyboard navigation - The app can be used with a keyboard, and focused controls have a visible outline.
- Screen reader support - Controls have screen reader labels, and important messages are announced automatically.
- Reading tools window - Keyboard focus stays inside the reading tools window while it is open, and returns to where you were when it closes.
- Skip link - A "Skip to main content" link appears when you press Tab, letting keyboard users jump past the navigation.
Keyboard and screen reader use were tested on 23 August 2026.
The timer
The 10-second timer is optional. For children who need more time, the teacher can run a test without it.
Feedback
If the app isn't working for you or your pupils, I want to know. Accessibility is something I'm actively improving, and real feedback from teachers helps me prioritise what to fix next.
